It’s hard to identify one player on the roster, but the Cavaliers feature three players, selected to the All-Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference Team. Camille Calhoun, a 5- 10 VCU recruit, has provided senior leadership and scoring (8.8 ppg). Aleah Epps (8.6 ppg, 3.5 apg), a 5-4 point guard and four-year starter, orchestrates the offense. Senior wing Jade Scaife has provided a scoring spark (13.2 ppg) and has signed with UNC Greensboro.
The Cavaliers (29-2) took a circuitous route to the NHSI, having competed here in 2011, where it lost to eventual champion Dr. Phillips. In February, Spalding annexed the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference title, defeating McDonogh, 55-46, in the final. Last month coach Bill “Bookie” Rosemond’s club took second at the prestigious Bishop Walsh Invitational Tournament in Cumberland, MD, falling to ranked St. John’s College (DC), 54-44.
